Experienced older drivers are more aware of the dangers and tend to drive more carefully than young inexperienced drivers, so accidents tend to be at slower speeds and of a less serious nature. When you’re involved in an accident, repairs could be needed to your car, maybe to the other driver’s vehicle too, and people could be injured. Insurance companies are there to pick up the costs, which is just as well really because you wouldn’t want them to come out of your own pocket would you?
