WELCOME Welcome to the Stanford Neurology Core Clerkship! This clerkship is designed to teach you an approach to clinical neurology. The material that you learn will be useful in all medical, surgical, pediatric and psychiatric subspecialties. We hope that some of you will choose to become Neurologists; however, the clerkship is designed to teach Neurology to future non-Neurologists. If you like the approach, material, and mostly, the patients and their stories, then come back for more in the form of one of our electives.

Why is Neurology a required clerkship? The reasons mainly are two. First, approximately 10% of patients seen by family practitioners present with neurologic symptoms or questions. As the population ages, this percentage will increase. Second, nowhere else in the curriculum is Neurology taught as an organized discipline.
