3. ADDING NEW USERS During the installation process of Linux Mandrake 6.1 the administrator creates, besides root, only one user. This directory will normally only be used by himself. As Linux is a multi-user platform several users can enter the system. They just use their own username and own password. In the system they will also have their own file system and their own facilities. The entrance to the system for new users has to be created by the administrator. In the following exercises, we add a user with the name ‘arjan’. As Linux is case sensitive we do not use capitals. If you wish you can add a user with another name or more users.
