This document describes the process of modeling Enterprise JavaBeans with StP/UML. Enterprise JavaBeans, or„EJB„ for short, is a new architectural framework for building distributed applications, much in the fashion ofOMG’s CORBA architecture. This document shows how users can model the various types of EJBs with StP/UML and how they should augmenttheir models with additional information needed for code generation. Furthermore, we’ll discuss the outcome of the generation, the generated interfaces, classes, buildfiles, and theDeploymentDescriptor, an XML file with descriptive information about EJBs. We’ll have a short look at how thegenerated EJBs can be verified and deployed into an EJB application server. This document does not describe • the EJB architecture in epic length (it gives, however, a short overview of the architectural foundations), • the development of client applications using EJBs, • the deployment of EJBs into an EJB server, • the integration with 3 rd party products like Java IDEs.
