Visual Basic 2005 introduces a number of enhancements designed to make your coding sim- pler and more efficient. In this chapter, you’re introduced to four of those enhancements. Generics provide a means for you to design classes that can handle objects of different kinds efficiently and in a type-safe way. The My Namespace offers convenient shortcuts for accessing Base Class Library classes that refer to the currently running application, the local machine, the application’s collection of forms, the logged-on user, and Web services associated with the application. By overloading operators such as = (equal to) and > (greater than), you can now define what happens when two instances of your class are compared. And finally, you’ll review some new keywords.
