VISTA UPGRADE EDITION For those people with upgrade editions of Windows Vista, Microsoft have changed the way the installation process works compared to the full and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) editions of the operating system. I have always recommended performing a clean install of any version of Windows, i.e. installing it on a freshly formatted drive and reinstalling all your software from scratch afterwards.
