Neuro bromatosis, first described by von Recklinghausen in 1882 [2], is divided into two types, both of autosomal dominant inheritence. The central type, neuro bromatosis type 2, presents with multiple intracranial schwannomas, intracranial and spinal meningiomas, and ependymomas and spinal neuro bromas. The peripheral type, or neuro bromatosis type 1, is the commoner of the two (90%). It is characterized by dysplasia of mesodermal and neuroectodermal tissue and may involve various tissues within the body, producing a wide range of manifestations. Vascular manifestations associated with neuro - bromatosis type 1 were first described in 1944 [3] and include arterial stenoses, occlusions, aneu- rysms, arteriovenous malformations and stulae [4±6].
