Biology is one of the biggest departmentsin the College. The Biology Department: • offers three Advanced Level courses: Biology, Human Biology and Environmental Science. • has over 350 students, the vast majority studying at Advanced Level. • has new, fully-equipped purpose-built laboratories and excellent resources. • does not carry out whole animal dissections. • provides all students with syllabus-specific textbooks written by Senior Examiners. Teachers • We have a very good team of teachers with a good gender and age balance, a variety of expertise and a wealth of experience: • All of the staff have at least ten years experience of teaching at A-Level. Some have experience as markers, question-setters and Chief Examiners of A-Level papers, moderators of practical work etc. • The aim of the staff is to encourage and help students by creating a positive, supportive atmosphere. There are articles of current biological interest on the noticeboards to stimulate discussion.
