The Purpose of the ACCUPLACER TEST What is the Accuplacer test? A group of college professors developed this test to provide information about how your skill level compares with that generally required for success in college. The Accuplacer test is a tool designed to determine your current level of skill in the areas of reading and mathematics. It is not an intelligence test. The Accuplacer test assessment will help you and an advisor determine which courses or programs are most appropriate to begin your education at Bellingham Technical College. Who Must Take the Test Everyone seeking acceptance into an occupational degree or certificate program must take and pass the Accuplacer test assessment prior to enrollment. With the exception of students seeking acceptance into the Operations Management or Electromechanical Technology (EMTEC) programs, students entering evening certificate programs or continuing education courses do not need to take the Accuplacer test.
