Large multi-national organ-isations can be so complex that senior management often struggles to understand howresources and costs are consumedwithin the enterprise. It is only bybeing able to view how individualbusiness processes relate to eachother and how decisions made inthe board room affect theseprocesses that companies can driveefficiencies and cut unnecessarycosts. This is the business need that Armstrong Laing Group (ALG) addressed in developing itsgrowing suite of EnterprisePerformance Optimisation (EPO)applications. Applications that arecurrently available in the EPOsuite include Predictive Planningfor planning and budgeting andActivity Analysis for Activity BasedCosting, which is where ALG firststarted in software developmentwith DOS-based applicationstwelve years ago. But by integratingthese and other performancemanagement applications that theyhave in development, ALG will provide senior management withthe high level of transparency theyneed right across their business. Over the years, ALG has used Delphi 3 through to 6 as the rapidapplication development tool tobuild both client and servercomponents of two of its productsuites.
