This session will discuss how the "big three" relational database vendors have implemented XML access to relational data. Each vendor's approach will be compared, and tips will be providedfor securing and integrating XML data in RDBMS systems. I’ve knowingly provided much more detail in this presentation paper than I will deliver in the presentation itself,which is limited to 45 minutes. All of the RDBMS servers outlined in this presentation paper are available on atrial and/or developer license basis, so the examples can be reviewed and tested at your leisure. Also, each of thetopics in this presentation paper is covered in much more detail in chapters 18,19, and 20 of my recently publishedbook, the XML Programming Bible (ISBN 0764538292, John Wiley and Sons, 2003). I also provide handy tipson setting up and configuring XML support for each RDBMS environment in the book.
